Former US First Lady Melania Trump broke her silence regarding the assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump.

The incident took place during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, when gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks fired a shot that grazed Trump's ear.

Melania expressed her distress over the event and questioned the lack of preemptive action by law enforcement officials. "The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience," she said in the roughly 30-second video posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account. "Now the silence around it feels heavy." She further cast doubt on the events leading up to the shooting, suggesting a possible cover-up. "I can’t help but wonder, why didn’t law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech?" she questioned. "There is definitely more to this story, and we need to uncover the truth."

The video has sparked numerous conspiracy theories, with many questioning how Crooks managed to evade Secret Service detection and fire a bullet at Trump. Some theories suggest that there were lapses in security protocols, while others hint at more sinister motives.

Donald Trump has also weighed in, blaming President Joe Biden and his 2024 opponent Kamala Harris for making it difficult for the Secret Service to have sufficient staffing to adequately protect him.
