Miss SA Scandal: Tyla Slams Bullying of Finalist, Chidimma Adetshina

Esther

Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla has publicly condemned the bullying of Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina, a finalist in the Miss South Africa beauty pageant.

Adetshina, who is of Nigerian and Mozambican heritage, found herself at the center of a nationality controversy after qualifying for the round of 16 in July.

The situation escalated when the South African Department of Home Affairs accused her mother of fraud and identity theft, leading to Adetshina's withdrawal from the competition despite being a Top 11 Finalist.

Reacting to the incident, Tyla expressed her disappointment over the harsh treatment Adetshina received, stating that the model was "bullied out of the competition."

Sharing her thoughts on X, Tyla wrote, "Disappointed that this happened to her, but wish you all the best girl. Kill it! I will always stand with South Africa, I just feel regardless of the opinions… She was bullied and that’s what I don’t stand for."

In light of these events, Miss Universe Nigeria has extended an invitation to Adetshina to join their contest, although she has yet to respond to the offer.
