Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist, was brutally murdered by her husband, Thomas.

The 38-year-old model's body was discovered on the evening of February 13, 2024, in their home in Binningen, near Basel.
Thomas, 41, confessed to strangling his wife, claiming it was in self-defense after she allegedly attacked him with a knife. However, medical experts found no evidence supporting his self-defense claim. Instead, they identified her cause of death as strangulation.

Following her death, Thomas dismembered her body using a jigsaw, knife, and garden shears in the laundry room. He then proceeded to chop up several body parts with a hand blender, "pureeing" them and dissolving them in a chemical solution.
The court ruling highlighted Thomas's "conspicuously high level of criminal energy," noting his "lack of empathy and cold-bloodedness" in the aftermath of the murder. Investigators also pointed out his "sadistic-sociopathic traits."
The couple, who had been married since 2017, lived in an affluent area of Basel and had two daughters together. Friends and neighbors expressed their shock, describing the family as seemingly perfect, though reports indicated that their relationship had been in crisis for months, with previous incidents of physical violence.

Kristina, originally from Binningen with Serbian roots, had transitioned from modeling to become a catwalk coach, training aspiring models and businesswomen. She had won the Miss Northwest Switzerland pageant in 2003 and was a finalist in the 2008 Miss Switzerland competition. Despite her professional success, her life was tragically cut short in a crime that has left the community reeling.
