The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully executed targeted airstrikes under Operation Fansan Yamma. On November 15, 2024, these precision strikes were launched against a significant assembly of bandits in Babban Kauye village, located within the Tsafe Local Government Area.
According to Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, "The congregation of criminals was perfecting plans for coordinated attacks against military personnel or civilians along the Tsafe axis." Acting on credible intelligence, the NAF swiftly responded with a series of devastating airstrikes, resulting in substantial casualties among the bandit ranks.
The operation specifically targeted factions loyal to notorious leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule, who have long been implicated in orchestrating violent assaults on local communities and security forces. These groups have exploited remote settlements like Babban Kauye as strategic safe havens for their operations.
Reports from the ground confirmed the successful elimination of numerous high-ranking members of these bandit groups, significantly impairing their operational capabilities. This action is part of a broader regional strategy aimed at dismantling bandit networks and restoring peace and stability across Northwest Nigeria.
The NAF's efforts align with the Theatre Command of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reflecting a robust commitment to counteract banditry and enhance security in affected areas. As Air Commodore Akinboyewa emphasized, "The NAF remains resolute in its mission, in collaboration with sister Services and other security agencies, to secure the region and indeed the nation as a whole."
