The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has dismantled an illicit manufacturing facility in Lagos Island, Lagos State.
Acting on intelligence reports, NAFDAC enforcement officers uncovered the illegal operation, seizing goods valued at approximately ₦200million.
The discovery was part of NAFDAC's ongoing efforts to rid Nigeria of fake and substandard products.
"NAFDAC will continue to ensure that the level of counterfeit products nationwide is brought to the nearest minimum," stated Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director General of NAFDAC. She further urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to the production of adulterated products to the nearest NAFDAC office.
This recent bust follows a series of similar operations by NAFDAC, including the dismantling of another illegal alcohol factory in Badagry, Lagos State, earlier this year. In that operation, products worth over ₦50million were confiscated and the operator, Chinedu Okafor, was arrested and is set to face prosecution.
