The national prayer session scheduled for August 10, 2024, at Isyaka Rabi'u's Mosque in Goron Dutse, Kano, was cancelled due to massive security concerns.

This decision was made in light of recent intelligence reports from the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Alhassan Muhammad.

The reports indicated that "evil forces" had planned to infiltrate the peaceful gathering, potentially inciting chaos similar to the disturbances witnessed during the EndBadGovernment protests.

Mubarak Ibrahim Lawan, the Coordinator of the National Prayer, announced the cancellation on August 9, 2024. He expressed deep regret over the situation, emphasizing that the event was intended to foster peace and stability in the nation.

Lawan stated, "We have been informed that some miscreants have been prepared to penetrate the law-abiding worshippers and exploit the gathering for their advantage."

He further elaborated that these individuals might incite youths to engage in looting, shoplifting, and other disturbances, as had occurred on August 1st, the day the national protest began.

Given the potential threat, Lawan urged the public to remain in their local mosques and continue their prayers from there. He reassured the community, stating, "The prayer can be effective wherever we are, as Allah hears us wherever we are."

Additionally, he advised the public to be vigilant and cautious of any unfamiliar individuals who might be carrying suspicious objects.
