NBA Star, LeBron James takes a Break from Social Media over ‘Negative Takes’

Esther

NBA superstar LeBron James has announced a break from social media over negativity in sports journalism.

The Los Angeles Lakers icon and the NBA's all-time leading scorer shared his decision on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, citing the overwhelming negativity prevalent on these platforms.

The catalyst for James's decision was a post by Rich Kleiman, the longtime agent of fellow NBA star Kevin Durant.

Kleiman criticized the negative tone often adopted by national sports media, stating, "With so much hate and negativity in the world today, it confuses me why some of the national sports media still think that the best way to cover sports is through negative takes."

James resonated with this sentiment, sharing Kleiman's post with a simple yet powerful comment: “AMEN!!” Following this, James confirmed his decision to step back from social media, writing, "And with that said, I'll holla at y'all! Getting off social media for the time being. Y'all take care."
