The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has successfully apprehended two high-profile drug trafficking kingpins, Damilare Ajiboye, also known as 'Na God', and Alhaji Bashir Talba, in a series of meticulously planned operations.

Ajiboye, who had been evading arrest for 12 months, was captured following a raid on his warehouse in the Akala, Mushin area of Lagos. The NDLEA's spokesman, Femi Babafemi, revealed that the operation led to the recovery of 1,101kg of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, on September 4, 2023. "The arrest of Ajiboye in a bank in Ogun was the result of well-coordinated efforts by our Directorate of Assets and Financial Investigation, which traced and blocked 20 bank accounts linked to him," Babafemi stated.

In a related development, NDLEA operatives in Lagos detained Alhaji Bashir Talba, a community leader and Sarkin Yamma of Badagry, after arresting his two wives and son. The agency seized a total of 226.2kg of cannabis from their homes on September 18.

Further demonstrating their commitment to combating drug trafficking, NDLEA agents in Lagos confiscated 9.7kg of cannabis sativa and 50 litres of "monkey tail," a fermented mixture of cannabis and dry gin, from a suspect named Florence Moses in the Badore area of Ajah, Lekki, on September 24.

Additionally, in Kogi State, three suspects—Owolabi Dele, 42; Ayodele Monday, 40; and Olawale Ojo, 22—were arrested along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway. They were caught transporting 132 sacks of cannabis, weighing a total of 2,062kg, in a Mercedes container truck from Osun to Dei Dei in Abuja.
