The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to evacuate its citizens from Lebanon as tensions between Israel and Iran intensify.
Iran launched 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, a move that has significantly heightened the risk for neighboring countries, including Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan.
This escalation follows the killings of Iran-backed militant leaders, prompting fears of widespread violence in the region.
In response to the growing threat, Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, issued an alert via X.com, stating: “Alert! All Nigerians in Lebanon are expected to get in touch with the Nigerian mission for profiling and documentation and subsequent evacuation.”

This directive aims to ensure the safety of Nigerian nationals amid the escalating conflict. However, the announcement has been met with mixed reactions.
Some individuals have expressed skepticism about the government's ability to execute the evacuation effectively.
One anonymous commenter remarked, "Imagine how Nigeria will do this without problems, Nigeria lie a lot and have never been quick in saving Nigerian anywhere. It will end as empty words."
Another user echoed similar sentiments, suggesting that the government might be relying on private entities like Air Peace for the evacuation, while other nations have already taken swift action to protect their citizens.
Despite the doubts, there are also voices of support urging the government to act promptly. Adivincci Da Hottie commented, "Nice one from the FGN. Y'all have been alerted and should do the needful."
