Nigerian Aviation Minister Slams Royal Air Maroc for Abandoning Passengers in Marrakesh

Esther

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has publicly criticized Moroccan airline Royal Air Maroc for the alleged mistreatment of Nigerian passengers.

The controversy arose when a flight from Casablanca to Abuja had to make an emergency landing in Marrakesh due to technical issues.

Minister Keyamo revealed that the passengers, who were predominantly Nigerians, were left stranded at the Marrakesh terminal without basic necessities such as food and shelter.

Disturbingly, many of these passengers, including women and children, were forced to sleep on the floor.

"I have just been informed of the inhuman treatment some Nigerians have been subjected to by ROYAL AIR MAROC @RAM_Maroc in Marrakesh, Morocco," Keyamo stated on his official X handle.

"The passengers, majority of whom are Nigerians, have been left without care at the terminal and without food and decent shelter, with women and children sleeping on the floor!"

In response to this situation, Minister Keyamo has called on Royal Air Maroc to take immediate action to remedy the conditions faced by the stranded passengers. He has also directed the Consumer Protection Department of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to engage with Royal Air Maroc's Nigerian branch to ensure swift relief for those affected.
