The Nigerian government has taken decisive action by suspending key officers at the Maximum and Minimum Custodial Centres in Kirikiri, Lagos State.
This move follows an audio leak suggesting that Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, who was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail, was provided with an apartment outside the custodial facility.

Announced on September 26, 2024, by Ja'afaru Ahmed, Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), the suspension includes Michael Anugwa, Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) in charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre (MSCC), and Sikiru Adekunle, DCC in charge of the Maximum-Security Custodial Centre.
Additionally, ASC II Ogbule Samuel Obinna from the MSCC in Afikpo, Ebonyi State, and Iloafonsi Kevin Ikechukwu, DCC in charge of the MSCC in Kuje, Abuja, were also suspended for various infractions, including allegedly receiving money on behalf of an inmate.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, initiated a probe into these allegations, with the results to be made public upon conclusion. Ahmed stated, "Following the viral video trending on social media on alleged infractions by officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service relating to Mr. Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has suspended forthwith the following senior officers of the service."
