The Nigerian police have allegedly declared award-winning investigative journalist David Hundeyin wanted.
This action is linked to the prosecution of Isaac Bristol, who is accused of being the anonymous whistleblower known as PIDOM Nigeria.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, both Hundeyin and Michael Temidayo Alade are listed as alleged accomplices of PIDOM.
The charges against PIDOM include leaking classified documents, fraud, sedition, and tax evasion. Bristol was arrested in late August and is currently remanded at Kuje prison for a minimum of seven days.
The arrest followed a petition from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. During the arrest, Bristol reportedly resisted, destroyed his phone, and flushed it down the toilet.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Adejobi stated, "PIDOM was arrested following a petition from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation." David Hundeyin, known for his fearless reporting on corruption and human rights abuses, took to social media platform X to assert that his only crime was "Journalism." He claimed that the Nigerian police had declared him wanted due to his investigative work.
