Nigerian Police Intercept Live Ammunition Intended for Terrorists in Katsina

The Nigerian police intercepted 740 rounds of live ammunition intended for terrorists in Kaduna State.


The operation, which took place led to the arrest of three suspected gunrunners in Dutsinma town, Katsina State. Addressing the media at the Katsina police headquarters on Friday, Police Public Relations Officer ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu detailed the events leading to the arrests. "Our operatives arrested three suspected notorious gunrunners and recovered a large cache of live ammunition," he said.


The suspects were apprehended while attempting to deliver the ammunition to bandits in Yauni forest, Ummadau village, Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.


During the investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime. "Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects received the ammunition from Nasarawa State to deliver to one Harisu, a suspected notorious bandits’ kingpin, currently at large," ASP Aliyu added.


The trio implicated Harisu as the mastermind behind the operation. ASP Aliyu emphasized the ongoing efforts of the police force to combat such criminal activities.


"This achievement demonstrates our commitment to combating banditry and gun running in Katsina State and beyond," he stated. He also assured the public that the command is working tirelessly to apprehend more suspects and bring them to justice.
