
The Nigeria Police Force has once again summoned Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Emma Ugboaja, the General Secretary.
The summons requires both leaders to appear at the Force Headquarters on September 5, 2024.
This latest development comes barely 24 hours after Ajaero had previously honored a police invitation concerning serious allegations including criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.
The new summons, however, involves different charges: criminal intimidation, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, and malicious damage to properties.
The repeated police actions against the NLC leadership have raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about the underlying tensions between the labor organization and law enforcement agencies.
