The Nigerian Senate confirmed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The confirmation process was marked by a notable exchange when Senate President Godswill Akpabio admonished Senator Osita Ngwu for his remarks about Odumegwu-Ojukwu's appearance.
During the ministerial screening, Ngwu began his comments by praising her beauty, prompting Akpabio to interject, "Restrict yourself to the resume. Forget this word beautiful; she didn’t put in the CV that she is beautiful."
This incident occurred as Odumegwu-Ojukwu, a former beauty queen, presented her credentials and recounted her experiences as Nigeria's ambassador to Spain.
She highlighted the challenges she faced, including living in a hotel for a year due to the dilapidated state of the Nigerian embassy in Spain.
"I would like to say that my past records speak for me," she stated, emphasizing her commitment to improving Nigeria's diplomatic infrastructure.
