NNPCL Refutes Viral Claims of Adulterated Fuel Sales in Bottles, Jerrycans

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has firmly denied allegations circulating in a viral video that it sold adulterated Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in bottles and jerrycans.

The video, which has garnered significant attention, depicts an individual pouring a dark liquid purportedly purchased from an NNPC Retail outlet at Keffi Flyover. Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, addressed these claims in a statement released on Thursday. He emphasized that "the product was not, and could not have been bought from any NNPC retail outlet as the company does not dispense petroleum products into bottles or jerrycans as displayed in the video."

Soneye further assured the public that NNPCL adheres to rigorous standards and quality control measures, ensuring that only high-quality, safe, and reliable petroleum products are available at its stations nationwide.

The company conducted thorough spot checks across all its outlets and found the accusations to be baseless. Soneye urged the public to "discountenance the spurious claims made in the video" and remain vigilant against misinformation propagated by "selfish and unpatriotic elements."
