The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is currently embroiled in internal strife, primarily centered around the leadership of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
This discord has reached a critical point, as members within the party have openly rejected Kwankwaso's leadership, which they perceive as a threat to the party's progress and existence.
Dr. Gilbert Agbo, the factional National Chairman, has been vocal in his opposition to Kwankwaso, describing his leadership as "a clear threat to the progress and existence of our party."
This sentiment was symbolically reinforced by the burning of the Kwankwasiya movement's iconic red caps, a gesture meant to publicly reject Kwankwaso's influence.
Despite these internal challenges, the Kwankwaso-led faction appears to be gaining traction in Kano State. Over 1,000 members from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to this faction, indicating a potential shift in political allegiances within the region.
This influx of new members could bolster the faction's standing ahead of upcoming local government elections.
