No Plans Yet to Congratulate Donald Trump on U.S. Election Victory - Russia

The Kremlin has announced that it has no immediate plans to congratulate Donald Trump on his recent victory in the U.S. presidential election.

This decision highlights the ongoing tensions and historically low relations between Russia and the United States.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov explained the rationale behind this restrained response, stating, "The situation between our two nations is such that it’s hard to imagine it getting any worse." He further elaborated that Moscow continues to view the U.S. as an "unfriendly country," primarily due to its support for Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict. While Trump's victory over Kamala Harris has been acknowledged by leaders worldwide, Russia's muted reaction stands out.

During Trump's first term, he sought to improve U.S.-Russia relations, but the potential impact of his second non-consecutive term on the Russia-Ukraine conflict remains uncertain.
