A nurse successfully thwarted a gang-rape attempt by using a blade to cut the private parts of her attacker, who was identified as Dr. Sanjay Kumar, the hospital administrator, in a harrowing incident at a private hospital in Bihar's Samastipur district.

The event took place on the night of September 11, 2024, at the RBS Health Care Centre in Gangapur. According to reports, Dr. Kumar and his associates, Sunil Kumar Gupta and Awadhesh Kumar, were intoxicated when they locked the hospital from the inside and turned off the CCTV cameras before attempting to assault the nurse.

The nurse, demonstrating remarkable presence of mind and courage, managed to escape after inflicting the injury and called the police from a nearby field. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Pandey praised her bravery, stating, "The presence of mind and courage shown by the survivor is praiseworthy."

The police recovered half a bottle of liquor, the blade used by the nurse, blood-stained clothes, and three cellphones from the scene. All three men have been arrested and will also face charges under prohibition laws due to Bihar being a dry state.

This incident comes just a month after the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, which has already sparked nationwide protests and demands for safer working conditions for medical professionals.
