The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has clarified the financial strategy underpinning the ongoing development projects within the nation's capital.

Speaking during an inspection of various infrastructure initiatives, Wike emphasized that the FCT Administration relies exclusively on Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) to fund its projects. He stated, "There is no other money coming from anywhere," showing the critical role of local tax revenues in sustaining these efforts.

The minister highlighted the importance of prudent resource management and the strategic application of available funds. "It's a matter of strategy and being prudent with the available resources," Wike noted, stressing that the administration's approach involves restricting the number of projects to ensure completion and prevent abandonment.

During his visit, Wike inspected road projects, including the full scope development of the 11km FCT Highway 105, known as Kuje Highway, and the emergency construction of a 5-kilometer Kuje township road.

These projects are part of the broader commitment to align with the President's Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to enhance both urban and rural infrastructure.

Wike also called on residents to fulfill their tax obligations, linking tax compliance directly to the visible utilization of funds. "One thing I can tell you about people or Nigerians is that when they see that their taxes are being utilized, they reciprocate by making sure they pay their taxes," he explained.

This reciprocal relationship between tax payment and project funding is central to the FCT's strategy for sustainable development. By focusing on effective IGR utilization and aligning projects with national goals, the FCT Administration aims to foster economic growth and improve the region's infrastructure.
