Ogun Varsity Student Kidnapped and Murdered by Friend After Ransom Payment

A 300-level student Christianah Idowu at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by her friend, Adeleye Ayomide, a 200-level Philosophy student at Olabisi Onabanjo University.

The tragic event unfolded as Christianah was traveling to the University of Lagos for her industrial training. According to reports, Christianah was abducted along the Ikorodu-Yaba road. Her kidnappers contacted her family, demanding a ransom of N3 million.

Despite the family's efforts, they could only raise N350,000, which was paid to the abductors. However, after receiving the money, the kidnappers ceased all communication.

Investigations revealed that Adeleye Ayomide, who had a mutual relationship with Christianah, was involved in the crime. He used her account to launder money and was eventually arrested.

During interrogation, Ayomide confessed to the crime, admitting that he killed Christianah and buried her in his father's compound.

A social media personality, Man of Letter (@LettertoJack), confirmed the sad development, stating, "On the 19th of August 2024, Christianah Idowu was declared missing after her parents were contacted by her abductors using her own WhatsApp contact.

The first contact with the parents was established around 8:49 pm after which they sent photos of the victim in captivity to them using the WhatsApp ‘view once’ feature."

The investigation uncovered damning evidence, including interactions between Ayomide's personal email and the email address used to communicate with Christianah's family.

Further probing revealed that Ayomide had previously been linked to similar crimes, raising concerns about his past actions.
