Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde Explains Her Strategic Breaks from Nollywood for Rejuvenation and Growth

Renowned Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, affectionately known as Omosexy, has recently addressed her fans' curiosity regarding her intermittent hiatuses from the film industry.

In a candid post on her Instagram page, the 46-year-old actress explained that she takes deliberate breaks to unwind, introspect, and rejuvenate after prolonged periods of work.

"I know many don’t understand why I take time off movies for a few years and then come back again," Omotola wrote. "I have seen fans asking when I’ll return to the screen, but when you have been working since age 15 like I have, you will understand the need to relax, relive, relearn, and recharge. Who gets it and who’s following?"

Omotola began her illustrious acting career at the tender age of 15, making her debut as the leading actress in the 1995 film 'Venom of Justice.' Since then, she has appeared in over 300 films and garnered numerous domestic and international awards.

Despite her success, Omotola emphasizes the importance of taking breaks to maintain her creative energy and passion for acting.

In addition to her acting career, Omotola is married to Captain Matthew Ekeinde, with whom she celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in March 2023.

The couple relocated to the United States in 2021. Omotola also shared that she visited Nigeria in December last year and left in March after filming two movies in February.
