Ondo 2024: Makinde Urges INEC for Fair Play in Elections

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has called for neutrality and fairness in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, scheduled for Saturday, November 16.

Speaking at the People's Democratic Party (PDP) campaign launch in Akure, Makinde emphasized the critical need for a level playing field for all candidates and political parties involved in the election.

Governor Makinde specifically urged INEC to replace the current Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, who is an indigene of the state.

He argued that her removal would demonstrate INEC's commitment to transparency and impartiality. "You must remove the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Babalola, because she is from Ondo State," Makinde stated.

"Bring another REC that would be fair and allow a level playing field."

Makinde expressed his satisfaction with the large turnout at the rally and warned against repeating the alleged irregularities observed in the recent Edo State governorship election.

He declared, "What you did in the past Edo election cannot be replicated here in Ondo. We will protest until she is removed."
