
Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has surged ahead of his main rival, Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by a substantial margin of 204,062 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced results from 15 out of the 18 local government areas (LGAs), with Aiyedatiwa amassing a total of 301,113 votes compared to Ajayi's 97,051.
Aiyedatiwa's victories span across all 18 LGAs, showcasing significant wins in key areas such as Ifedore, where he secured 14,157 votes against Ajayi's 5,837, and Akure South, where he achieved a notable 32,969 votes to Ajayi's 17,928. In Akoko South West, Aiyedatiwa recorded a landslide victory with 29,700 votes, leaving Ajayi trailing with 5,517.
The APC candidate's dominance is further reflected in Owo LG, where he triumphed with 31,914 votes, while Ajayi managed only 4,740. Similarly, in Ondo West, Aiyedatiwa claimed a resounding victory, securing 20,755 votes against his opponent's 4,740.
As the electoral process continues, results from three LGAs are still pending. However, the current figures show the APC's strong performance in the region.
