The former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has expressed grave concerns about the future of Nigeria's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He asserted that the party is in such a dire state that only divine intervention could restore its unity and strength.
Fayose attributed the PDP's current crisis to internal conflicts exacerbated by what he described as the "mismanagement and arrogance of a few" within the party's leadership.
He lamented the situation, stating, "The mismanagement and arrogance of a few today is haunting the party, and they say when the head is sick, the whole body is gone."
The former governor highlighted the embarrassment caused by the ongoing suspension and counter-suspension of party members, which he believes has brought the PDP to an unprecedented low.
"The current situation in our party has made a mockery of suspension and counter-suspension, especially at that level of leadership," Fayose noted.
This turmoil is unfolding against the backdrop of tensions between the camps of the PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
