Former United States President and Republican candidate in the November 5 election, Donald Trump, resumed campaigning on Tuesday for the first time since a second apparent attempt on his life.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Flint, Michigan, Trump declared, "only consequential presidents get shot at." He linked the foiled assassination attempt, which occurred Sunday at his golf course in Florida, to his pledge to impose heavy tariffs on car imports from Mexico and China.

Trump also expressed gratitude towards Kamala Harris, his election rival, for reaching out to check on him after the incident. Harris, while campaigning in Pennsylvania, reiterated her stance against political violence, stating, "I checked on him to see if he was OK. And I told him what I have said publicly — there’s no place for political violence in our country."
The former president's remarks were made in Flint, a city that has faced massive economic challenges following the closure of automotive factories due to foreign competition. The FBI has classified the incident as a foiled assassination bid, further intensifying the political climate as the November election approaches.
