Osun Police Anti Kidnapping Squad Leader Arrested

F.Adenike

The Osun State government has confirmed the arrest and prosecution of Moses Lohor, the head of the Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad, along with his team.

This action follows directives from the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who ordered their immediate apprehension due to allegations of attempted murder.

The controversy erupted after an incident involving Wakeel Nurudeen Iyanda Alowonle, the Chairman of the Osun State Transport Management System.

According to reports, Alowonle was shot by Lohor's squad after a pistol and ammunition were allegedly discovered in his vehicle.

The police claimed that Alowonle was shot while trying to escape arrest.

However, the state government has accused the squad of suspected murder, asserting that Alowonle was actually shot in the abdomen at the police station following a domestic dispute with a neighbor.

Samuel Ojo, the Special Adviser to the Osun State Governor on Security, confirmed the arrest, stating, "We can confirm that the police authorities at the highest level have acted decisively on this matter.

A clear punitive directive was issued by the IG. Mr. Governor has directed we follow up to ensure that justice is served."
