Oyo State to Hire 791 Civil Service Officers in Largest Recruitment Drive in Two Decades

The Oyo State Government has announced plans to recruit 791 new officers into its civil service, marking the largest recruitment effort in the last 20 years.
This significant hiring initiative was revealed by Alhaji Kamoru Aderibigbe, Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, during a press briefing in Ibadan on October 2.
The recruitment process will see the absorption of 230 education officers and 561 additional staff into various cadres of the state's mainstream civil service. The online application window is set to open from October 7 to October 11, through the state government job portal: www.jobportal.oyostate.gov.ng.
Aderibigbe emphasized the importance of fairness and equity in the recruitment process, stating, "The online application will enhance due diligence, fairness, and equity." He further clarified that applicants must meet specific educational qualifications, including a minimum of second class honours for university graduates and lower credit for polytechnic graduates. Additionally, all candidates must possess NYSC discharge certificates or exemption certificates at the time of application.
"Applicants into cadres requiring a degree must be university graduates with a minimum of second class honours division, while applicants into cadres that require Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate must be polytechnic graduates with a minimum of lower credit," Aderibigbe explained. "Equally, applicants into cadres requiring the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) must be graduates with a minimum of merit."
The commission assured that the recruitment would be conducted based on competence and free from political interference. "We will ensure competence in the discharge of our duties, without any political interference," Aderibigbe added.
