Paris 2024 Olympics: Ajayi, Ashe Progresses to 100m Men’s Semis[VIDEO]

Kanyinsola Ajayi and Favour Ashe made headlines by advancing to the men's 100m semi-finals at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Both athletes are making their Olympic debuts and have shown remarkable performances in the heats.

Ajayi delivered an electrifying performance in Heat 5, clocking a time of 10.02 seconds, which secured him the top spot.

This impressive feat saw him edge out the reigning Olympic champion, Lamont Marcell Jacobs, who finished second with a time of 10.05 seconds. Ghana's Abdul-Rasheed Saminu came in third, completing the race in 10.06 seconds.

Favour Ashe, on the other hand, faced a more challenging path. Competing in Heat 4, he finished fourth behind Jamaica’s Oblique Seville, Japan’s Abdul Hakim Sani Brown, and Thailand’s Thurpool Bonboon.

Despite not securing an automatic qualification spot, Ashe managed to advance to the semi-finals by grabbing the last non-automatic spot with a time of 10.16 seconds.

The semi-finals for the men's 100m will take place on August 4th, 2024, at 2:05 pm ET. Ajayi and Ashe will be looking to continue their strong performances and aim for a place in the finals.

Ajayi's recent victory at the African Championships in Douala, Cameroon, and his current form suggest that he is a strong contender for a medal.
