The German cycling team came to the aid of Nigerian cyclist Ese Lovina Ukpeseraye during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Ukpeseraye, who was unexpectedly called up to compete in the keirin and sprint events, faced a significant challenge when she arrived without her own bicycle.

The Nigerian athlete took to social media to express her gratitude and share her ordeal.

"Due to the short notice of me competing at the keirin & Sprint, #teamNigeria I had no bicycle to race with on the tracks," Ukpeseraye wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "In d spirit of sportsmanship the German team @bunddeutscherradfahr came to my rescue by offering me a bicycle."

This act of kindness allowed Ukpeseraye to participate in her events, making history as the first Nigerian to compete in these cycling disciplines at the summer games.

Despite the last-minute arrangements, she managed to finish 4th in her heat, narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
