Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, recently issued a public apology for his previous statement suggesting that Christians who do not pay tithe may not enter heaven.

In a clarifying video, Adeboye admitted that his claim was incorrect and not supported by Biblical scripture. He stated, "I apologise for saying ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible."

Adeboye further advised that some church members consider giving more than the traditional 10% tithe, viewing it as a minimum threshold. He remarked, "It is wrong to limit you to 10 percent when someone is talking of 20, 30, 40 percent. 10 percent should be for beginners."

This suggestion has sparked diverse reactions on social media. While some praised him for acknowledging his mistake and apologizing, others criticized the notion of exceeding 10% tithing, especially during challenging economic times.
