The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has once again postponed its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, which was initially scheduled for November 28, 2024.
This decision was announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, in a public notice issued in Abuja. The postponement is attributed to the funeral of Pastor Mrs. Patience Umo Eno, the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State and wife of Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.

The funeral events are set to take place from November 27th to 29th, 2024, coinciding with the planned dates for the NEC meeting.
Senator Anyanwu stated, "After due consideration, the NWC, recognising the need for party leaders to commiserate with Governor Eno, hereby notify NEC members that the 99th NEC meeting will now be held on a date that will be communicated to members in due course." He also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by this change.
The meeting, originally slated for August, had already been postponed multiple times, first to September, then to October 2, and subsequently to November 28.
The indefinite postponement has sparked opposition from the North Central caucus of the PDP, who insist on addressing the ongoing leadership crisis within the party. They emphasize the importance of adhering to the established succession plan as outlined in the PDP Constitution (2017 Amendment) to resolve internal conflicts and restore order within the party.
