The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ijumu chapter has firmly denied the suspension of Senator Dino Melaye, labeling the purported letter of suspension as a forgery.

Hon. Olorunmaiye Olabode, the PDP Chairman in Ijumu Local Government Council, issued a communiqué stating that the suspension "will never stand" and described it as "ridiculously and hurriedly written," noting discrepancies in the day and date.

The communiqué emphasized adherence to the party's constitution and guidelines, asserting that no materials were provided for the Ward Ad hoc Congress on July 27, 2024, and no LGA Congress was held in Ijumu to elect a National Delegate. It also highlighted the illegitimacy of the State Congress held in Lokoja on August 31, 2024, calling it a "failed kangaroo arrangement."

The statement accused external forces of concocting the suspension letter to destabilize the party and remove Melaye, who is regarded as the "voice of the voiceless" in Kogi State.

The communiqué challenged the accusers to provide evidence of Melaye's alleged anti-party activities, citing his significant contributions to the party, including financial support and provision of membership cards.

In contrast, the Ward Party Executive Committee of Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 had announced Melaye's suspension on the same day, citing his refusal to engage with the disciplinary committee and alleged anti-party activities. This resolution was signed by Ward Chairman Abayomi Osamika and Secretary Yodson Dayo, and it referenced Article 59 (1) of the PDP constitution, which allows for disciplinary actions against members.

Despite these conflicting reports, the Ijumu chapter's stance remains clear: "We categorically and unequivocally state that the said purported letter of expulsion is a forgery and cannot stand."
