Labour Party presidential candidate and former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi on Sunday made a major pledge of ₦120 million to the Holy Rosary Sisters in celebration of their centenary. This donation is intended to support their educational, healthcare, and humanitarian efforts.

The pledge is divided into two parts: ₦100 million will be directed through the Sisters' headquarters in Enugu, dedicated to various initiatives including facilities they are building in Nsukka, while the remaining ₦20 million is allocated specifically for Holy Rosary College, Nsugbe.

This latter amount is part of redeeming a cheque Obi had signed towards the end of his gubernatorial tenure, which was subsequently canceled by the succeeding government.

Peter Obi commended the Holy Rosary Sisters for their unwavering dedication to serving humanity, noting that their "century-long mission has transformed countless lives."

He encouraged them to continue their invaluable work, particularly in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, emphasizing that their legacy reminds society of the importance of discipline, service, and unity in building a better world.

The Missionary Sisters of the Holy Rosary were founded by Bishop Joseph Shanahan in 1924 with the aim of spreading the word of God and uplifting the lives of women worldwide through education, healthcare, and social development. The centenary celebration marks a pivotal milestone in their mission, highlighting their enduring impact over the past century.
