Physicians Advise Couples to Avoid Stock Fish to Combat Infertility

Physicians have urged couples struggling with infertility to desist from consuming stock fish. This recommendation comes amidst growing concerns about the potential impact of certain dietary choices on reproductive health.

Dr. Adewale Johnson, a leading fertility specialist, emphasized the importance of diet in managing infertility. "We have observed that certain foods, including stock fish, may contain high levels of heavy metals and other contaminants that could adversely affect fertility," he stated.

Stock fish, a popular ingredient in many Nigerian dishes, is often dried and preserved through traditional methods. However, these methods can sometimes lead to contamination, posing risks to those trying to conceive. "Couples should be mindful of their diet and consider alternative sources of protein that are less likely to contain harmful substances," Dr. Johnson added.

The advisory has sparked discussions among nutritionists and healthcare providers, who are now advocating for more research into the link between diet and fertility. "It's crucial for couples to consult with their healthcare providers to tailor a diet plan that supports their reproductive health," said Dr. Ngozi Okafor, a nutrition expert.
