Police Inspector was tragically killed, and two Chinese nationals along with a Nigerian were kidnapped at a quarry site in Akamkpa Local Government Area, Cross River State.
The attack occurred on the evening of November 8, 2024, when gunmen, disguised in military camouflage, infiltrated the Marksino quarry camp.
According to an official statement by SP Nelson Okpabi, the Zone Six Police Public Relations Officer, the assailants shot the unnamed Police Inspector and made off with his AK-47 rifle, identified as Breech No. BE-35-2982.
The breach in security reportedly happened after a civilian worker inadvertently allowed the gunmen access to the premises.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone Six, AIG Jonathan Towuru, has ordered an immediate manhunt for the perpetrators.
"The AIG commiserates with the slain inspector’s family, relatives, and friends," stated Okpabi. "He has resolved not to rest on his oars until the victims are released and justice served on those behind the dastardly act."
