Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigerian Police Force, faced severe criticism for his dismissive response to a query about the status of 20 abducted medical students.
The students from the University of Maiduguri and Jos were kidnapped on August 15, 2024, while traveling to Enugu for their annual convention.
The controversy began when a concerned medical student took to the social media platform X to ask for updates on the abducted students.

The student wrote, "@Princemoye1 this is the 3rd night 20 of my colleagues will be sleeping in the bush or wherever with no update on their well-being.
A lot would have been done if they are protesters." Adejobi's response, "So you expect us to be updating you online? You are indeed caring for them.. I think you should know the best way to have an update. Best wishes," was met with immediate backlash.

Many Nigerians felt that his reply was inadequate and insensitive, given the gravity of the situation.
