Pop singer Justin Timberlake has had his driver's license suspended by a New York judge
This decision comes after Timberlake was re-arraigned on charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) following an incident in June.
The 43-year-old entertainer, who rose to fame as part of the boy band *NSYNC before embarking on a successful solo career, was arrested in the Hamptons on June 18, 2024.
According to court documents, Timberlake was driving a gray 2025 BMW utility vehicle around 12:30 a.m. when he failed to stop at a stop sign and struggled to stay in his lane.
The arresting officer noted that Timberlake's eyes were "bloodshot and glassy," and there was a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath."
Despite these observations, Timberlake refused to take a breathalyzer test three times.
During the virtual court appearance on August 2, 2024, Timberlake pleaded not guilty to the charges. His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., argued that "very significant errors" had been made by the police and maintained that Timberlake was not intoxicated at the time of the arrest.
However, Judge Carl Irace decided to suspend Timberlake's driving privileges in New York for six months due to his refusal to take the breathalyzer test.
Timberlake, who is currently on a world tour, appeared virtually for the hearing. He is scheduled to perform in Antwerp, Belgium, over the weekend before heading to the United Kingdom.
The next hearing on the misdemeanor charge is set for August 9, 2024.
