Lekki Phase 1 and its neighboring regions have been plunged into darkness for some days.

The power outage, attributed to cable theft and equipment damage, has left residents in areas such as Igbo Efon, Ikate, and Elegushi without electricity, sparking widespread frustration and concern.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) are reportedly working to address the issue.

However, their efforts have been met with criticism due to what many perceive as ineffective communication.

Residents have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction, with one user lamenting, "There’s no light in Epe axis for close to 4 weeks now," highlighting the broader impact of the outage.

This incident has reignited discussions on economic sabotage and the need for stricter penalties against those responsible for such criminal activities.

A commentator on the situation remarked, "It's high time people who engage in economy sabotage are sentenced to death," reflecting the public's demand for harsher consequences.
