A Premier League referee, David Coote, is currently under investigation by the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) following the emergence of a controversial video.

The footage, which has ignited serious controversy, allegedly shows Coote making derogatory remarks about Liverpool Football Club and their former manager, Jurgen Klopp.

In the leaked video, Coote reportedly refers to Liverpool as "s**t" and labels Klopp an "absolute c**t." These comments are said to relate to a 2020 Premier League match between Liverpool and Burnley, during which Coote served as the fourth official. The match ended in a 1-1 draw at Anfield, and was marked by Klopp's criticism of Coote's officiating decisions.

The video also captures Coote expressing his disdain for Klopp, stating, "Aside from having a right pop at me when I refereed them against Burnley in lockdown, then he accused me of lying and then just had a right f****g pop at me. I have no interest in speaking to someone who is f*****g arrogant."

PGMOL has confirmed that an investigation is underway to address these allegations and assess the implications for referee accountability and integrity.
