President Bola Tinubu has appointed new Directors-General for the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Department of State Services (DSS).
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, a seasoned foreign service officer with an illustrious career since 1995, will now lead the NIA.
Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, who has risen to the rank of Assistant Director-General and served as State Director in various regions, is the new head of the DSS.
These appointments come on the heels of the resignation of the previous heads of both agencies.
President Tinubu expressed his confidence in the new appointees, stating, "I expect Ambassador Mohammed and Mr. Ajayi to enhance the effectiveness of our intelligence agencies and address the pressing security challenges facing our nation."
The leadership change is seen as a strategic effort to revitalize Nigeria's intelligence operations amidst ongoing security concerns.
