President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after completing a two-week working vacation in the United Kingdom. The presidential aircraft touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Saturday evening, marking the end of his annual leave.
Upon arrival, President Tinubu was warmly received by a delegation of senior government officials. Among those present were his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
"The eagle has landed," announced presidential aide Dada Olusegun on social media, capturing the moment of the President's return. "Welcome home, Mr. President."
The President's trip, which began on October 2, was described by the presidency as a "working leave" intended for reflection on his administration's economic reforms since assuming office in May 2023. During his time abroad, President Tinubu also made a brief visit to Paris, France, for an important engagement, as confirmed by his Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari.
Despite concerns raised by some political figures over the simultaneous absence of both the President and Vice President Kashim Shettima, who was on a separate diplomatic mission to Sweden, the presidency assured Nigerians that there was no leadership vacuum. "It is important to note that the President and Vice President are fully engaged with the nation’s affairs, even while they are away," stated presidential aide Bayo Onanuga.
