The 16th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, expressed his deep sorrow and frustration over the destruction and looting of properties during a hunger protest in Kano State.
During an inspection tour, Sanusi visited several affected sites, including the historic Kano Printing Press, the NCC Digital Industrial Park, and Barakat Stores.
These locations were among the public and private properties that suffered significant damage during the unrest.
Sanusi recounted how his grandfather had worked at the Kano Printing Press, which was established in 1938 and has been a cornerstone of the community ever since.
He lamented the irony and tragedy of the site being destroyed by the descendants of those who once built and maintained it.
The Emir criticized the security forces for their failure to prevent the destruction, despite having been notified in advance about the potential for violence.
He described those responsible for the chaos as enemies of Kano and its people. Sanusi called for divine intervention to aid the youth involved and to bring justice to those behind the unrest. He also prayed that such incidents would not recur in the future.
