Russia has commenced the mass production of mobile bomb shelters capable of withstanding nuclear blasts, in response to escalating tensions with the West.
These shelters, known as "KUB-M," are designed to protect against a range of threats, including shockwaves and radiation from nuclear explosions, as well as conventional attacks and natural disasters. The Russian Emergency Ministry's research institute describes the "KUB-M" as a multifunctional structure that can safeguard individuals for up to 48 hours.

Each unit resembles a reinforced shipping container and comprises two modules: one accommodating 54 people and another serving as a technical block. Additional modules can be added if necessary.
The production of these shelters comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions, particularly following the U.S. administration's decision to allow Ukraine to deploy long-range missiles into Russian territory—a move deemed reckless by the Kremlin.
In light of these developments, President Vladimir Putin recently approved a new doctrine that lowers Russia's threshold for deploying nuclear weapons. The shelters are easily transportable by truck, connectable to water supplies, and suitable for deployment in Russia's northern permafrost regions. This initiative is seen as a major step towards enhancing citizen safety amidst growing international hostilities.
