During his court trial for false rape allegations, former Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy revealed how he managed to survive financially.

Mendy disclosed that his teammates Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, and Riyad Mahrez lent him money after the club stopped paying his wages following the charges.

The employment tribunal was informed that Mendy's £500,000 monthly salary was withheld by Manchester City after he was charged in 2021. As a result, Mendy quickly ran out of money and had to sell his Cheshire mansion to cover legal fees, bills, and child support payments.

In a witness statement, Mendy expressed his gratitude towards his teammates who offered "financial support" during this challenging period.

He stated, "Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez all lent me money to help me try and pay my legal fees and support my family." Despite being cleared of the charges in 2023, Mendy claims to be owed £11.5 million in unpaid wages by the Premier League champions.
