Rapper Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was recently arrested at the Hollywood Casino in St. Charles, Missouri.

The arrest occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. after an identification-verification check, a procedure occasionally conducted in Missouri casinos as per the state’s gaming commission regulations.

During this check, officers discovered four ecstasy pills on Nelly and noted that he lacked car insurance, stemming from a previous traffic stop.

Nelly, 49, was taken into custody by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and later booked at the Maryland Heights Police Department. He was subsequently released.

His attorney, Scott Rosenblum, argued that Nelly was "targeted by an overzealous, out of line officer" who conducted an improper search without probable cause.

Rosenblum emphasized that Nelly frequently visits and entertains at the casino's amphitheater and had won several jackpots without incident or background checks in the past.

The rapper, known for hits like “Hot in Herre” and “Country Grammar,” has not been formally charged yet. However, it is anticipated that prosecutors will review the case once the police submit the necessary paperwork. Nelly's attorney remains confident that the case will not progress further and has called for an inquiry into the officer's conduct.
