The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) under the leadership of Dr. Zacch Adedeji has exceeded its 2023 revenue target by collecting a record ₦12.36 trillion. This milestone has sparked widespread reactions and assessments of Adedeji's tenure as the Executive Chairman of FIRS.

Appointed in September 2023, Adedeji has been credited with modernizing Nigeria's tax administration through a series of tech-driven reforms and strategic initiatives.

Adedeji's approach has been characterized by a focus on creating a transparent, efficient, and people-focused tax system. His leadership saw the introduction of nine new modules into the TaxProMax system, automating over 80% of previously manual processes, which streamlined operations for both large and small corporations. This development created a "One Stop Shop" for fast, transparent, and efficient tax services.

Moreover, Adedeji's commitment to integrity is signified by the launch of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) in collaboration with the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). This initiative aims to uphold transparency and fairness in tax administration.

Policy analyst Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi praised Adedeji's vision, noting that his reforms have set the stage for sustained growth and a fairer tax system. As Adedeji enters his second year in office, his achievements align with President Tinubu's mandate for renewed hope, reinforcing his reputation as a leader poised to drive Nigeria's economy forward through innovation and integrity.
