The situation revolves around a defamation lawsuit involving VeryDarkMan (VDM), a social media critic, and the prominent figures Femi Falana, a human rights lawyer, and his son, musician Falz.

The controversy began when VDM shared a leaked audio recording in which crossdresser Bobrisky alleged that Falana and Falz attempted to secure a presidential pardon for N10 million while Bobrisky was imprisoned at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. Both Falana and Falz have categorically denied these claims, labeling them as defamatory, and demanded an apology from VDM.

VDM has refused to apologize, asserting that his actions were intended to expose corruption within Nigeria. He argues that the allegations should prompt Falana and Falz to clear their names rather than demand an apology.

Despite this stance, the Lagos State High Court has ordered VDM to delete the allegedly defamatory post in anticipation of the substantive suit's hearing at the Ikeja High Court on November 14, 2024.

VDM's refusal to apologize is rooted in his belief that he is highlighting systemic corruption, as he stated: "I don’t see anything wrong with what I did, so I’m not apologizing to anybody. They should clear their name." He further emphasized his commitment to exposing corruption by saying, "Tomorrow, if I hear their names again, I will post it. I don’t fear anybody’s father."
