River's: Nyesom Wike’s Supporters Stage Protest, Ask RSIEC to Suspend LG Poll

Esther

Supporters of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, staged a significant protest against the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) amidst ongoing local government elections.

The protest was fueled by allegations of irregularities in the electoral process and a recent Federal High Court judgment that reportedly ordered the suspension of the elections due to legal challenges.

The demonstrators, brandishing placards with messages such as "Obey Court Order" and "No Justice, No Election," expressed their frustration over the conduct of the elections. They demanded that RSIEC halt the polls and adhere to the court's ruling.

This protest highlights the political crisis in Rivers State, where tensions between judicial decisions and electoral bodies have come to the forefront.

Despite the court order, RSIEC proceeded with the elections, which led to the mobilization of Wike's supporters.
