Rivers: Eleme LG Secretariat Goes Up in Flames

Fire broke out at the Eleme Local Government Area secretariat in Rivers State.

According to reports the newly elected chairman, Brain Gokpa, arrived at the secretariat with his councillors and supporters only to find parts of the complex engulfed in flames.

This alarming event was further detailed by former Ambassador Oji Ngofa, an Eleme native, during a phone conversation. The arson attack has sparked fears of potential violence across various local government areas within the state.

The situation is compounded by recent developments, including the Nigerian Navy's efforts to deactivate illegal refining sites in the region and the Inspector General of Police's directive for the immediate withdrawal of personnel from local government areas in Rivers State.
